DESCRIPTION: A beautifully detailed watercolor painting of Guru Angad Devji is part of a set of matched paintings of the Sikh Gurus. This Pahari style of miniature painting was very popular in the Punjab court of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Lahore, during the early decades of the 1800s.
This painting is sourced from the Royal Collection of the British Crown.
Most Sikh homes have inexpensive reproductions of Guru paintings, such as those by Shobha Singh and other contemporary artists. But these historical art prints sold by Guru Nanak Temple are collectors’ items that are in a league by themselves. These are reproductions of paintings made 200 years ago, by artists who were within a few generations of the Gurus, and knew people who remembered them.
